A High Court in Ekiti State has sentenced Tajudeen Ogunleye, 18 years old, and Tosin Oluwafemi, 21 years old, to death by handing for murder, conspiracy to commit murder and unlawful possession of a human skull.
The defendants were said to have committed the crimes on the 14th of February 2017 at Ifaki Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State. They conspired to murder one Joshua Ojo which is contrary to section 516, 316, 319 and 329(a) of the Criminal Code, Cap C16, Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecution counsel, Eniola Arogundade, called five witnesses and tendered exhibits, including the statements of the accused persons and photographs of one of the accused with the skull.
The boys got seven years imprisonment for conspiracy, five years for unlawful possession of a human skull and death sentence for the committing murder.
While delivering her judgment presiding judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde, said, “Every evil or good action in life attracts consequences; in the accused persons’ case, their act has grave consequences. The first and second accused persons are hereby sentenced to death by hanging and may the Lord have mercy on your souls.”
