Former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mre Diezani Alison- Madueke, has been ordered by the Federal High Court to forfeit 2,149 pieces of jewelry and a customized gold iPhone valued at $40m.

Following an ex parte application moved on Friday, July 5th 2019 by the council for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rotimi Oyedepo, the presiding judge, Justice Nicholas Oweibo, ordered that the items be temporarily forfeited to the Federal Government.

In its application before the court, the EFCC said it believed the jewelry and customized gold iPhone were acquired with “proceeds of unlawful activities”.
